Are you nearing the end of your project? You must have a project closure checklist to close it without any loose ends. Yes, you should trust people to do their job right. However, you do not want any slipups, so objectively verifying if things have been done correctly is a valid option. The next tip would be to get a written work signoff or an acceptance from the stakeholders/beneficiaries declaring that you have delivered the expected outcomes.
